Testing

AFIP Certification Program Testing

You must pass each of the three test modules with a score of 80 percent or greater and submit all required documents (e.g., Senior Ethics Workbook for Senior candidates) to become AFIP Certified.

If you fail any portion of the AFIP Certification Course, you will be given one more opportunity to pass (additional fees apply). You only have to retake the portion of the test you failed, but you must wait at least two weeks before retaking the exam (no exceptions). If you have special needs (i.e., a language barrier or documented learning disability), please contact AFIP.

Before You Can Test

There are a couple of things you have to do before you'll be allowed to test. First, if your state requires that you have any licences to perform your duties, you must have or have applied for those licenses. Note that you're only required to have a license if it is required for your job.

Next, you MUST pre-register (if you must retest, you'll have to pre-register again). The information collected during the pre-registration process will allow AFIP to ensure you get the right tests at PSI and provide us with the information we need to create and ship your diploma. Please ensure you do this at least two weeks prior to your anticipated test date. We recommend that you do it when you receive your materials, before you start studying. To pre-register now, fill out this form.

After you fill out the pre-registration form, you'll receive an automatically generated email containing your pre-registration code. Save this email and write the code somewhere in your study materials (we've provided a place in the front inside cover of your syllabus) so you'll have it when you register with PSI.

NOTE: AFIP must submit the information to PSI and PSI must process it or they will be unable to schedule your exam. If you do not pre-register at least two weeks prior to your test date, AFIP may be unable to expedite your pre-registration because the system is automated. Please ensure you pre-register as soon as possible.

Scheduling a Test – PSI Testing Centers

To schedule your testing date (pre-registration required; see above), go to www.psionline.com to locate the PSI (formerly LaserGrade) testing facility nearest your home or work. Call 800.211.2754 to schedule your session. You may be asked to provide your pre-registration number (which you received via email after you pre-registered in the step above). You will be asked to bring a photo ID and provide personal information to verify your identity.

Your first testing session comes with your paid AFIP Certification Course materials. If you must retake any portion of the exam, you will be required to pre-register again and to pay the PSI sitting fee of $75 (this fee is assessed by PSI, and is subject to change without notification).

Standard AFIP Testing Process

Each candidate will be required to provide information on their status with regard to state licensing and other details. While AFIP does not verify state licensing on every candidate, it is a violation of the code of ethics to to provide false information. If you do, you may be subject to disciplinary action, including possibly losing your AFIP Certification. You must also verify that you will follow of the AFIP Code of Ethics.

Before the test begins, a tutorial will be available that shows the candidate how to use the online testing system. Candidates may answer the questions in any order, skipping and returning to questions as necessary.

Candidates will have two hours to complete all three modules.
