Mentors

AFIP mentors help certification candidates in many ways. Mentors are usually the field representatives for AFIP’s Industry Members. If you’ve never been a mentor before, you probably have a lot of questions. The specific duties of a mentor vary, and you may want to ask your company’s AFIP or training coordinator for company-specific policies.

To become a mentor, you must hold a current (unexpired) AFIP Certification (Basic, Senior or Master) and be in good standing with AFIP. If you’re not an employee of one of AFIP’s Industry Members, please contact AFIP to ensure you qualify.

General Mentor Duties

  • Explain the benefits of AFIP Certification to dealers and F&I managers and help them register for the course.
  • Help certification candidates understand the materials – on an as-needed basis or during weekly or bi-weekly follow-ups.
  • Help candidates schedule a review. You can provide this yourself using your own materials as a guide or help them sign up for one of the AFIP-provided conference call reviews.
  • Help candidates schedule testing – the candidate must contact PSI (formerly LaserGrade) themselves to schedule the test, but they may require guidance or assistance with the process.
  • Follow up with candidates to ensure they passed all three sections of the test and, in the case of Senior candidates, they’ve sent their Applied Ethics Workbook to AFIP. You may need to help the schedule additional pre-test reviews and testing sessions if they fail.
